LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Notre Dame's Men's Basketball star Marcus Burton is expected to return to the starting lineup this season, according to a statement issued Wednesday night by the team.

The team stated the All-ACC guard will be out on a week-to-week basis.

Burton was injured early in Tuesday night's game against Rutgers in the Players Era Tournament in Las Vegas. Notre Dame lost the game in overtime 84-85.

"I couldn't be more proud of how my teammates competed following my injury, and I know they will pick me up and continue to play well. I look forward to supporting them in any way possible," Burton said in the statement. "As in everything I do in basketball, I will attack my rehab and give it my best to get back on the floor at full strength as soon as possible."

Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry said the team is thankful Burton will make a recovery this season.

Burton was named the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2023. He's averaging 18.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game this season.

The Irish play sixth-ranked Houston early Thursday morning in the tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:30 a.m. ET.
